As Chair of the Salvador and Pilar Sala foundation, Inc. (SPSFI), Dr. Ingrid Sala Santamaria spearheaded its Ten-year Music Development Program (1991 -- 2000) which produced the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO), the Peace Philharmonic Philippines (PPP) and the PPP Junior Ensemble (PPPJE).
Central to this main objective was the inviting of distinguished international artists to perform with the maturing orchestral groups, giving them valuable exposure and experience, as well as elevating the Cebu audience's appreciation of fine music.
On Feb. 25 -- 28, 1999 , through coordination with JICA (Japan International Coordinating Agency) and the Japanese Consulate in Cebu , the Kanazawa Quartet gave a series of concerts and string workshops in Cebu for the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra in support of the youth's musical development.
Featured here are four movements from Mozart's Eine Kleine Nacht Musik (Allegro, Romanza, Menuetto, Rondo); Beethoven's String Quartet No. 2 in G Major in four movements (Allegro, Adagio cantabile, Scherzo, Allegro molto); three Japanese folk songs; and the Philippine Dahil sa Iyo. Closing remarks by Dr. Santamaria concluded the program.
