Description
Frédéric Chopin composed his Cello Sonata in G Minor, Op. 65 in 1846, and it was premiered two years later by Auguste Franchomme on cello, with Chopin himself at the piano. As the last work published during Chopin’s lifetime, this sonata stands out for its four-movement structure and strong thematic connections between movements. It is also one of the very few pieces by Chopin that features an instrument other than the piano. Lasting approximately 30 minutes, the sonata beautifully showcases Chopin’s mastery of chamber music, blending lyricism and virtuosity.
