Description
Blackbeat is taken from New Candy's latest album Stars Reach The Abyss, which was released back in March 2012 on Foolica Records.
The New Candys name was derived from Anton Newcombe's surname (leader of The Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Dandy's, nickname of The Dandy Warhols.
The band was formed back in 2008 by four guys from Treviso, which is a town located close to Venice. They're influenced by the psychedelic music of the '60s and '90s and by the Keep Music Evil philosophy.
From October 2008 to July 2009 the New Candys temporarily stopped their course as one member of the band moved to London, but in August 2009 they started playing together again. In August 2010 they released their first self-produced EP in free download, recorded live with no computers within two days. The EP caught the attention of the Italian independent press and, since then, they have been playing live in Italy, sharing the stage with notable artists such as Crystal Stilts, Dead Skeletons, Hidden Cameras, Father Murphy and many others.
In March 2012 they released their debut album Stars Reach The Abyss on Foolica Records and was mastered by Jon Astley. One of their songs is also being remixed by John Wills (formerly of Loop).
The New Candy's latest self-titled EP is available as a free MP3 download from Bandcamp:
