About the Composers:
Luys de Narváez (c. 1500–c. 1555) was a Spanish vihuelist and composer of the Renaissance. He is best known for his collection Los seys libros del Delphín (1538), which includes some of the earliest examples of variation form in music history. Narváez's works reflect the elegance and polyphonic richness of Spanish court music.
Grégoire Brayssing (fl. mid-16th century) was a French lutenist and one of the earliest known composers for the renaissance guitar. His Quart livre de tabulature de guiterre (1553) is a rare and valuable source of early guitar repertoire, blending sacred and secular styles with imaginative counterpoint and lyrical charm.
Luys Milán (c. 1500–c. 1561) was a Spanish composer, poet, and vihuelist, best remembered for his influential collection El Maestro (1536)—the first known publication for the vihuela. His music combines refined artistry with expressive depth, offering insight into the humanist spirit of Renaissance Spain.
