Scotland Culture Dance Video (Alba - The Sidh)

12 years ago, I made a dance video for my school film festival showing off the city I was living in at the time, Krakow. It was a remake of another video, but I was proud to show off the beautiful city that I was living in at the time.

During the COVID pandemic, the idea of making a similar video showing off Scotland began to creep into my mind. I even started listening to a ton of dance songs that had bagpipes in them, in an attempt to find one that would perfectly encapsulate such a video. Eventually I came upon the aptly named “Alba”, the Gaelic word for Scotland.

Once I had the song picked out, the rest started to fall into place. I started planning what shots I would need and which locations I wanted to include. This took me through all of Glasgow and Edinburgh, and into the Highlands including the Isles of Skye and Islay. I even hiked Ben Nevis to be able to get some shots on the highest point in the UK! Filming actually took place entirely over the summer of 2023.

After filming, the footage slowly gained dust on my computer as I became very preoccupied with the planning and eventual execution of a 2024 sabbatical year to travel through South America with my partner. But alas, finally in the crisp summer of 2025 I am proud to finally show you all: Scotland Culture!

Once again, I had a great time working on it and it was the culmination of a lot of hard work as well as the help of a few friends. Because this one was not a remake like the other one was, I now appreciate how much extra effort had to be put into considering choreography and flow as well. I am so happy with how it turned out! :)
